A recent study done in Secondary Schools and Institutions of higher learning across Botswana revealed that more than 80% of the youth in Botswana do not like using protection when engaging in sexual activities.
The government interviewed students from Botho University, Botswana Accountancy College, Botswana College of Agriculture, Botswana International University of Science & Technology, Limkokwing University Of Creative Technology, University of Botswana, and several High schools and the outcomes were found to be very shocking.
10% of the students stated that they do sometimes use condoms, but not Always as condoms are not that easily accessibly in Botswana. About 10% revealed that they always use protection, while 80% plainly declared that they do not like condoms as they reduce the pleasure of sex.
Asked if they are not worried about the dangers of unprotected sex, most of them stated that sex is sex, whether it kills you or it does not, it is just sex.
It is at the moment not clear what the government’s plan is to resolved this problem.
